oh that’s a lovely one, as for benjamin bunny – Z is going to be brought up vegetarian like her mum and dad so that will definitely give her nightmares!

All very gruesome! There’s also Jack and Jill who end up in an A&E department which resorts to vinegar and brown paper because of the spending cuts.

I’ve thought the same before and some of the fairy tales would make good horror films! Hansel and Gretel, Little Red Riding Hood, none of them are exactly restful just before bed!

I found the same with stories like the Beatrix Potter ones that are traditional bedtime stories. Benjamin bunny’s dad was caught and eaten by the farmer and he was regularly put to bed without food.
My favourite nursery rhyme is quite tame – Hush little baby
Hush little baby don’t say a word
Mama’s gonna buy you a mockingird etc and ends with
You’ll still be the prettiest little child in the town
