Tinsel, tinsel everywhere….

Today Zara was much more her normal self after yet another nasty bug so we decided to decorate the christmas tree. No more words on this post, just a few photos for you to see of my little girl :)

As I’ve had 4 days of being completely selfish and choosing items on the NEXT wishlist for me, today I’m going to add these two items for Zara :) just to prove I’m not a completely selfish person…

A pretty christmas stocking!

and some new wheels

On the fourth day of christmas…

Day 4 of my christmas shopping list from NEXT and I’m still being selfish and choosing products for myself :) There is just so much to choose from, I’ll save my choices for Zara and hubby for another day (maybe!) :)

OK so I know I’m going to be almost 7 months pregnant at christmas but it will help me get back in shape once baby 2 arrives :)

and something a little more sedate…

OK I know it’s a little bit pricey but you never know there might be somebody out there feeling very generous this christmas :)

Some people seem to think I’m a bad mother because…

6

It’s been a nightmare week with the weather up here, crazy snow which has meant my husbands school has been closed for the last 2 days and I’ve not risked driving all the way to Newcastle in this weather, after all I’m almost 6 months pregnant and last week in the snow it took me almost 3 hours to get there. 3 hours sat in a car when pregnant is not fun!

So with both of us being home, most people have assumed that we have kept Zara at home with us, after all why send her to nursery when we aren’t at work? Well our nursery is 200m up the road and is about the only place we can get to with all this snow and so the option of her not going to nursery just wasn’t considered. Does this make me a bad parent? Even worse, Monday was her first birthday and even with us both being home we STILL sent her to nursery. Good grief I hear you all cry, what evil parents you are!

There are a few reasons that she still goes to nursery and these are:

1) We’ve already paid for the priviledge of her being there, whether she turns up or not!

2) Zara loves going to nursery and really enjoys it

3) We have no other childcare arrangements, I haven’t had a break from looking after Zara since she was born. We have no grandparents or family within 200 miles and so whereas most parents seem to get plenty of breaks from their babies, I haven’t had one! Therefore if I get chance to have a nice relaxing day off from being a mum I am going to snap their hands off :)

So yes, call me a bad mother if you want but I refuse to feel guilty. Zara is happy, I’m much happier now I’ve had a couple of days to relax and if the weather carries on like this we will continue to take Zara to nursery :) Don’t get me wrong I love my daughter more than life itself, I’d do absolutely anything for her but EVERY mother deserves a bit of time to herself occasionally :)

Sorry rant over :)

On the first day of christmas…

1

OK so it’s not quite the first day of christmas yet but I thought I’d start my countdown a little early and start listing my 12 must haves that I really really want from NEXT as I’m a bit of a shopping addict and I really need to start thinking about christmas shopping :) NEXT are currently running a blogging promotion and so the more click throughs I get from my site the more chance I stand of winning some nice NEXT vouchers and number one on my list of things to spend them on is this rather lovely maternity coat as my non-maternity coat no longer fastens and I don’t think I can spend the next 3 months exposing my belly to the cold north east weather :)

My maternity coat of choice!

Of course I can’t be completely selfish and I might aswell get this lovely coat for Zara aswell seeing as she also has to brave this awful weather we are having :)

A Coat for Zara!

Today we are loving babywearing and our snugbaby sling

1

At 6am this morning, hubby and I were most excited when we found out that a) his school is closed today due to snow and b) there was no way I’m getting out of the village today as I refuse to drive 20 miles on treacherous roads whilst almost 6 months pregnant when I can work from home. Of course Zara’s nursery is only around 200m away up the village and still open and seeing as we’ve paid for her to go and they have birthday cake making planned for her today it seemed a shame to keep her home and so it was a case of how to get to nursery!

On investigation there is over a foot of snow on our drive and on the pavements here so the pushchairs are all redundant (all 4 of them that are currently in the garage!) and the cars are going absolutely nowhere which left us only one option. Our snugbaby sling! Now that I’m almost 6 months pregnant my babywearing days are on temporary hold and so today Daddy had the pleasure of wearing Zara as we walked up to nursery and here are some photos of our snowy adventure this morning :) Yes it’s definitely a snowbaby day :)

Is nursery just a sweat shop for babies?

3

Well this week has been a good week, we actually managed our full 4 days at nursery with no illness, Zara still has a lingering cough but aside from that she seems to be returning to her old self very well and settling into nursery brilliantly.

I have been pondering though that it’s no surprise at how tired she is when she comes home, this week alone she has made a canvas painting, designed her own christmas card range, painted christmas tree decorations and a plate and on Monday she has to bake her own first birthday cake :) It’s no wonder the poor little love is exhausted by the time we pick her up (exhausted and content and I should say :) )

I have visions of all the babies being used to make christmas cards, decorations and even toys etc to be sold on so that the nursery makes a profit, a bit like those third world factories that produce cheap goods to be sold to the mass markets lol.

Anyway on that note I leave you with a piece of work I have called “Inside my Mind” by Zara Brown aged almost 1 year old!
