I’ve been meaning to write a review of this book for ages, it is by far Zara’s favourite book and just to clarify I haven’t been asked by anybody to write the review. I’m writing it purely because it’s a gorgeous book and I want to sing it’s praises :)

As most of you may know, Zara’s daddy is Scottish and so she has some Scottish uncles, one of whom bought us this book as a present for her last year. It’s called “Katie’s Zoo” and it is written with a Scottish accent for instance the first page starts…

“Katie is gaun oot for a day at the zoo. Whit a lot o birds and beasts there are tae see!”

Zara has hundreds of books and this is by far her favourite, it is the one she always picks up and brings over to us before bedtime and we must have read it to her 1000 times by now but she never tires of it. Daddy reading it to her with a Scottish accent has her in fits of giggles.

My favourite aspect of the book is the illustrations, they are stunning, bright and colourful and Zara loves identifying all the animals from them. She even knows which animal is the Rhino now :) Her favourite page is in the photo below, it’s the Owl – she has even learnt to say Owl now and can tell the difference between the owl and the other birds :)

I think the book would make a great gift to any Scottish families living elsewhere as it bring a touch of Scottishness into their lives in a fun way :)
