Hotel Chocolat Christmas Goody Bag and Competition

204

When I’m asked whether I’d like to review chocolate, I’m never likely to turn it down. There is chocolate and then there is Hotel Chocolat. I’m a huge fan of their chocolate having had one of their Ultimate Milk Advent Calendars for the last few years. This year I have chosen the Christmas Goody Bag to review :)

Now Hotel Chocolat describe the Christmas Goody Bag as..
Our favourite chocolate goodies for Christmas – handpicked and just waiting for you to delve in!
Contents – 6 Billionaire Shortbread chocolates, Christmas Gift Slab with milk chocolate and dark cookie pieces, Milk Chocolate Pocket Reindeer and a Mini Festive Wreath.

I however can describe it as absolutely delicious, scrumptious and definitely something that I’d love to find in my stocking on Christmas morning :)

If you’re looking for Christmas Gifts or Stocking Fillers then pop on over to Hotel Chocolat site to see what they have on offer – but we warned it’s very very tempting and you may be there a while ;)

Hotel Chocolat have very kindly agreed to offer a Christmas Goody Bag worth £17.50 as a competition prize for one of you lovely readers.

Leapfrog – Peek A Shoe Octopus

1

The lovely people at Leapfrog have sent Zara and Oscar one of their Peek A Shoe Octopus to review.

The Peek A Shoe Octopus is for ages 9-36 months and so Oscar is almost old enough to play with it now. I have to remember that as he was premature he isn’t quite as advanced as most 8 month olds at the moment but now he has learnt to sit up he will find it easier to play :) Zara at 22 months absolutely loves playing with it.

The Peek A Shoe is basically a ball drop toy, you drop the balls into either the Octopus’s hat or arm (well I suppose technically it’s a tentacle?) and then you have to find which shoe it will appear under. The Octopus gives you clues using colours and numbers to help you find the ball. This is a fab game for teaching colour recognition, numbers and even sea animals. Zara can already identify most of the animals on the shoes but her favourite word is currently Octopus!

I only have a couple of small issues with the Peek A Shoe Octopus. 1) The balls are just small enough to roll under my sofa and so I’m quite frequently lying on my stomach with a ruler trying to get them back and 2) Zara has a habit of dropping other items into the Octopus. So far we have managed to retrieve them all successfully but we have to keep an eye out as we’ve so far found a shoe, a gingerbread man and a load of wooden jigsaw pieces in there. Even taking this into account though I think the Octopus is a great toy and we have been having loads of fun with it. When Oscar is a little older it will be lovely for them both to play with it together :)

The Peek A Shoe Octopus sells for £24.99 which I think is a pretty reasonable price and if you’re looking for gift ideas for a baby/toddler then it is definitely worth considering.

Orchard Toys – Red Dog, Blue Dog

1

Orchard Toys have very kindly sent Zara one of their Red Dog, Blue Dog games to review.

Red Dog, Blue Dog is a fun first lotto game for very young players with the aim being to match all the coloured pictures to the playing board. It is for ages 2-5 and there are 4 playing boards so it can be played by up to 4 players. In our household we love toys and games which encourage learning and family interaction and so we were very happy to be sent this to review :)

Now I have to admit we don’t exactly play the game as lotto at the moment as with Zara being only 22 months old, she doesn’t quite understand the idea of lotto. But we have had lots of fun making up our own games such as snap, matching the animals to the boards, finding the same image in different colours, learning colours. The possibilities are as endless as your imagination! We love being able to play together as a family although it will be a little bit longer until Oscar can join in as well ;) I’d love to post some photos of us all playing with Red Dog, Blue Dog but whenever we are playing I’m usually too busy having fun to remember to take photos at the same time :)

Red Dog, Blue Dog sells for £9.25 which is a fantastic price for a great stocking filler this Christmas :)

Leapfrog – My Own Leaptop

1

The lovely people at Leapfrog have sent Zara one of their My Own Leaptop’s to review and all I can say is what a HUGE hit it is in our house :)

“Personalise pretend computer play with My Own Leaptop™! Choose and download songs for a custom playlist, explore 6 learning activity stations and personalise 8 email messages for your child to enjoy! Parents can connect to the online LeapFrog® Learning Path for customised learning insights and ideas to expand the learning. Available in 2 colors: green and purple.”

When you first get the Leaptop you connect it to your computer with the included USB cable and then you can personalise it by connecting to the Leapfrog website. You get to personalise 3 emails and choose from certain songs and then it is ready to play with.

Zara spends hours playing with hers and she loves that she gets emails from Mummy, Daddy and Oscar. I love the blog button personally, it’s nice to get them interested in the world of blogging at an early age after all :)

I’ve done a little video below to show you just a few of the features of the Leaptop.

My Own Leaptop sells for the bargain price of just £19.99 which I think is fantastic value for a toy that provides this much entertainment and learning. 10/10 to Leapfrog for this toy from the Brown household :)

What little girl wouldn’t love a lovely sparkly t-shirt as a present? The Chocolate Library – Super Bumper Chocolate Giveaway

139

Let’s face it Christmas isn’t Christmas without chocolate is it? Or is that just me being a chocoholic? ;)
The Chocolate Library have been in touch to tell me about their lovely products and they sent me a lovely Nursery Teacher Chocolate Bar for Zara to give to her carer at nursery. (I know, I’ve been sent chocolate to give away and not eat myself :( )

“It’s important to us that our products taste as good as they look. All the chocolate we use is made with premium quality Belgian chocolate and contains higher than average cocoa solids ensuring the milk chocolate has a smooth texture and creamy taste while the dark bar has a rich and intense flavour. Minimum cocoa solids: 35% for milk, 70% for dark.”

As well as Nursery Teacher chocolate bars, they have bars for teachers, parents, cat lovers and a whole range of other people. They also have gift bundles of a book and a chocolate bar for cat lovers, dog lovers and teachers. I think it is a really great idea personally and looking through their website I think I could find a gift for pretty much everyone I know! P.S. if anyone wants to buy me a combination of this book and a chocolate bar it would go down very well for Christmas thank you ;)

There is also a range of Christmas Chocolate bars which sell at £3.95 each and would make ideal stocking fillers :)

The Chocolate Library have very kindly agreed to offer a super competition prize for one of you lovely readers. The winner will get to choose, not one but SIX of the Christmas bars (pictured above) of their choice worth almost £24 in value. That’s six potential christmas presents in one prize, how fab is that?
Please note the Christmas Chocolate bars cannot be individually personalised as the design is embossed onto the packaging already!

Oooh and before I forget, as this week is chocolate week, The Chocolate Library are running a special twitter off of 20% off EVERYTHING on the site up until Sunday 16th October at Midnight. All you need to do is enter CHOCWEEK20 at checkout!

Balance Me – Discovery Set

2

Balance Me have very kindly sent me on of their Discovery Sets to review :)

“Balance Me’s discovery set is a perfect collection to indulge or introduce your friends and family this Christmas. Our multi-award winning, natural yet sophisticated luxurious bathing and moisturising body
heros in this kit are suitable for all ages, skin types as well as for those friends or relatives that are usually hard to buy for!

Our discovery set is made up of our multi-award winning hand cream with shea butter and yarrow, in handbag perfect size at 30ml; our brand new super toning body cream, packed with essential oils juniper, bergamot, geranium and lavender to help smooth skin. Our super toning body wash to compliment and layer the benefits of the cream; and our award-winning rose otto body wash packed with rosa palma, rose geranium and rose otto, which is gentle and soothing for sensitive and more mature skins.”

Now I have to admit when it comes to toiletries I have to be careful as I get awfully dry skin but I’ve been using this set for a couple of weeks now and my skin is looking lovely if I do say so myself. The super toning body wash and body cream smell lovely and refreshing first thing in the morning and the handcream now permanently lives in my handbag! The set has a RRP of £16 and I think it will make an ideal stocking filler or small gift for those people who are a nightmare to buy for ;)

Mama Jewels

0

It’s no secret that I’m a huge fan of Mama Jewels and I did a review for them back in July here. Just because I love them so much I’ve decided to feature them in my christmas gift guide as I think they would make a lovely gift for any mums out there :)

The necklace I’ve chosen to feature is the Audrey Necklace.

Audrey sells for £19.95 and is a gorgeous long necklace using gold or silver beads to create a chain like appearance, with a dark smoky grey pendant finished with bronze or silver thread thread and Macrame knotting. It comes packaged in a lovely Mama Jewels gift box and tag.

Each necklace is strength tested to 90N to prevent breakage and all components are non toxic for when baby chews them, washable and can be steam sterilised. Perfect for the mum who has a pulling, teething baby :) What new mum wouldn’t love to find one of these in her Christmas stocking? :)
